Healthy Sustainable Planet
Algae has a number of interesting traits that make it stand out as a future food crop, including high-quality protein and overall nutrition. It should be recognized as a vital key to supporting all of life, with the unique ability to turn light energy from the Sun into carbon-based molecules that society harnesses and uses in countless ways. We rely on algae for their nutrients and proteins, but most importantly their lipids that are good for the Healthy Sustainable Planet. The advantage of algal biofuel is that the algae remove CO2 from the Earth’s atmosphere which offsets their use. They also provide other harvestable resources, such as triacylglycerols, proteins, and nutrients, and can be cultivated on non-arable land.
